Fixed line operator RanksTel has relaunched its operations after a suspension of more than two years, initially resuming its network services in the Dhaka and Chittagong regions, with further relaunches to follow in Sylhet, Khulna and Bogra, local newspaper The Daily Star reported. The firm, which had around 300,000 subscribers when the regulatory authorities shut down a host of telcos for involvement in the illegal routing of IP-based international voice traffic in March 2010, announced that it has already completed re-registration of 20,000 former customers, and is now in the process of rolling out a next generation, triple-play voice, data and TV service range. This week, the CDMA-based wireless in the local loop (WiLL) operator has launched three new packages, named ‘Kotha’ (talk), ‘Nikhut’ (precise) and ‘Astha’ (trust).
