The management of start-up international cable venture WASACE has stated this week that the proposed 40Tbps submarine fibre network, including a section linking South America with Angola, Nigeria and South Africa will be ready for service in early 2014. A report from South African website Techcentral quoted the WASACE Cable Company as saying that it had begun the procurement process to select a system supplier for the Africa-Americas-Europe cable’s construction. An invitation to tender has been sent to four potential suppliers ahead of a winner hopefully being selected in July 2012.
